On March 3, 1964 a group of interested citizens met in the Leola Legion Hall. A secretary was selected to conduct the election of officers. Their goal is to support current activities of area sportsman and encourage future generations to participate. Over the past fifty plus years the club has participated in setting seasons for wildlife; pheasant restoration; goose nesting; the stocking of fish in local lakes and hunter safety classes for area youth. The Leola Sportsman's Club also sponsors an all-you-can-eat breakfast on the opening day of pheasant season. As well as an annual picnic for its members and their families in the summer. They also maintain and operate an outdoor shooting range just one mile north of town.
